From Monroe County BOCC:
Monroe County remains closed to visitors. The checkpoints at mile marker 112.5 on U.S. 1 and State Road 905 will remain in place and screenings will continue at Key West International and Marathon Florida Keys airports.
Retail businesses and restaurants will be able to operate at 25 percent of building capacity, effective Monday, May 4. We are still under the "Safer at Home" order until then.
The County will continue the directive of using facial coverings in public settings.

In light of the national crisis dealing with COVID-19, we are concerned for the health of our membership and recommend following the CDC guidelines for community gatherings and social distancing.  As a result, events for at least the next month will be virtual.

We are missing the fellowship with you all!  Please stay well. If you find yourself in need, or know of someone in the community in need of assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to your Upper Keys BPW Board of Directors and membership for help.

It has been an interesting month, I guess you could say!

Although some who are bored in lock down might disagree, the Upper Keys BPW Board of Directors has found it a bit challenging to stay in contact and keep the business of our local organization running smoothly.

Thanks to technology, the board and several of our committees have been able to meet virtually.

Your current Board has been busy planning for the Annual May Membership Meeting and preparing for the nomination/election of your new 2020-2021 Board!

We have also tried to keep our membership informed and connected with several "LIVE" messages from your President and President-Elect.

And then there was the April Virtual Happy Hour!  It was so great to see so many of you and to share our stories, laugh and toast each other!  Thanks to Pam Feeser for the uplifting talk about the importance of taking care of our mental and spiritual health during these challenging times.  Please join us for the next Virtual Happy Hour on Wednesday, May 6th.  More info here.

Elections for the 2020-21 Board of Directors will occur at the May Annual Membership Meeting on May 20.  The Nominating Committee has been actively preparing the Slate.  At this time we have a candidate for all positions except one open general "Director.". If you are interested in the open position, or any other position, you can put your name on the slate or announce your intention when nominations are called for during the May 20 meeting.

Multiple Committee positions are also available.

Please consider getting involved!  Email bpwupperkeys@gmail.com to learn more.

Meet ZOOM
Have you met ZOOM?  Two months ago, who know how important this simple app would be to all of us today!  Thank you ZOOM for helping us stay together while we are apart during this time.  While we do appreciate you immensely, we really hope that you become less essential to everyone very soon. No offense.

Atta Girl BPW Member Robin Guieb

As the coronavirus has left so many out of work, one of our members decided to use the time to help her community and her country by sewing and delivering over 400 (so far!) much needed face masks.

Robin selflessly donates her time and skill while her company, Infinitely Natural, picks up all the shipping costs.

Way to go Robin!

Atta Girl BPW Member Laura Maupin!

Former President Laura Maupin tied the knot recently with her best friend Steve!

We wish them many years of love and happiness.

Congratulations Laura!

IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW DESERVES AN ATTA GIRL, PLEASE SEND US THE INFORMATION AND WE'LL MAKE SURE YOU/THEY ARE RECOGNIZED!   bpwupperkeys@gmail.com

ResearcHERS empowers women to fundraise in support of women-led cancer research, but it's more than just a fundraising campaign. ResearcHERS is a movement. A sisterhood of purpose determined to sustain women-led cancer research and recognize the female trailblazers in the field. While the American Cancer Society has funded 49 researchers who have gone on to receive the Nobel Prize, none of them has been a woman...yet. Join the ResearcHERS movement and help us fuel the future of women-led cancer research.

Across the nation, the ResearcHERS campaign raises money to fuel the work of some of the most innovative women-led cancer research. With support from programs like ResearcHERS, the American Cancer Society is conducting and funding ground-breaking research that could help save lives from all types of cancer.

Nominate An Ambassador
To raise the funds that fuel women-led cancer research, we look to influential women across the country - community and business leaders ready to fight for a world without cancer. We call these leaders our Ambassadors, and we can never have too many. If you're passionate about fighting cancer and want to help elevate women in the field of cancer research, nominate yourself today. Know someone else who fits the bill? Nominate them as an Ambassador. And help us save even more lives from cancer.  NOMINATE AN AMBASSADOR
