Greetings Upper Keys Business and Professional Women!
I'm thinking a lot this month about thankfulness. The Thanksgiving holiday is coming up, a time to gather with family and friends. It's also a time to remember and reflect on all that we have to be grateful for. Did you know that practicing thankfulness can actually improve your emotional and mental well-being? It can put you in a better mood and even help with depression. A thankful life is a happier life!
Today I am thankful for BPW, our members and supporters, and look forward to seeing many of you on Wednesday for our monthly meeting. It's a luncheon this month, at Bakers Cay Resort and our speaker is Sherry Schwab from the Domestic Abuse Shelter.  It is such a necessary service for our community, and it should be an interesting presentation. They are also our charity this month, so come prepared to make a donation. Special thanks to our sponsor this month, Florida Keys Electric Cooperative.  Registration closes Monday morning at 9:00 AM, so reserve your space now.
Upper Keys BPW will be participating in Light Up Key Largo on December 4th with "Letters to Santa." If anyone is interested in helping with this project and wants to volunteer to work a shift, please let me know. It should be a great way to connect with the community.
Enjoy the coming holidays, count your blessings and don't forget to be thankful!
With love and gratitude,

Suzi Youngberg

Martha Loizeaux
I teach marine science and have been teaching and coordinating field labs at Ocean Studies Charter School since the school was first started in 2011. I originally come from New Hampshire and I studied Zoology at Ohio Wesleyan University. A study abroad experience in the Turks & Caicos brought me into the world of marine science. I have a B.A. in Zoology, a Florida Master Naturalist certification, PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification, Merchant Mariner Credential, and Florida Elementary Education Teaching Certification.  I have taught SCUBA and marine science in summer programs for students, worked in aquariums and on boats, and worked as the assistant director at MarineLab in Key Largo before starting my journey at Ocean Studies. My favorite teaching moments are when I am able to stand back and let the learning happen. I love bearing witness when students have reached the point of making connections and discoveries independently. Our vision at Ocean Studies is particularly important to me as I know that the continued health and restoration of our fragile marine environment lies in the hands of our future leaders, our children!  I love to enjoy the ocean with my two beautiful sons, Manolo and Luca, and especially love to share my passion with students of all ages. I am working towards a Master of Arts in Biology from Miami University of Ohio through their Project Dragonfly program. My goal is to use my degree and experience in the program to help our "Keys Kids" build a foundation of environmental stewardship and community empowerment as they grow.

Tiffany Wheaton Zepeda

Tiffany grew up in Key Largo, FL. She attended the University of Central Florida where she  earned her undergraduate degree and then earned a Master’s Degree of Education from the University of Florida. She is a resident of Key Largo and has taught at Key Largo School since 2009. There, she has served as a mentor teacher, the volleyball coach, and administrative designee, as well as the Take Stock in Children Scholarship representative. She was selected as the Key Largo School Teacher of the Year in 2018 and as the Monroe County School District Inclusion Teacher of the Year in 2014. She is the chairperson for Teen Intervention Prevention Services Nonprofit to support local youth, A Girl Scout Troop Leader, and a committee member and instructor for iCAN Swim Camp for children with disabilities. Tiffany is currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education and plans to pursue a position as a school-based administrator in Monroe County.
